We’re looking to improve facilities at Yew Lane in the next 12-18months. We hope this will include new kitchen facilities, a new activity room, with potential for creche space and new double glazing.
So the question now is: What new activities and services would you like to see the building being used for?
Here’s some suggestions from other people – but we’d love to hear your ideas and thoughts too, you can add your comments below.
- Art therapy sessions
- Dance therapy sessions
- Gardening therapy sessions
- Other therapeutic sessions
- Counselling & support services
- Adult education / learning
- Sessions for adults with learning disabilities
- Guided meditation
- Relaxation classes
The first of the Movement Medicine sessions are being held at Cross at Yew Lane today – the first four sessions to be held every Monday in January from 10am -12.30pm are all FREE. If these taster sessions prove popular we’ll be trying to schedule more in from March.
Well we’re already a couple of weeks into a new year and so it felt like time to provide an update on things we’ve got planned in the the coming weeks. For a full update on all the quiet days, and regular Sunday worship check in on the diary page – but for now lets just remind you that Saturday will see the first Quiet Day of 2012 at Yew Lane, and be quickly followed next week by a service of Prayer for Healing – you are most welcome to join us at these.
We hope soon to announce a special date for all of you who enjoy singing (even if you’ve been told you’re not a good singer!) so watch this space for more details.
Also we were overjoyed to hear that Yew Lane has been awarded a grant from Sheffield City Council Climate change grants to update the heating system so work on that will hopefully begin soon – we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this might cause in the short term but know that anyone using the building will feel the benefit once the work is done. Thank you to the funders from everyone at Yew Lane.
Eight people attended the Healing and Wholeness- Quiet Afternoon this week, in particular the session explored the theme of “Loving yourself and others”.
The session took at look at Jesus’s Great Commandment: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind … and your neighbour as yourself.” The last bit of that commandment proved interesting – “your neighbour as yourself”.
How do we love ourselves?
Do we love ourselves?
We’ll be continuing with the Healing & Wholeness theme at the Quiet Day on January 14th and it will be reflected in the Service of Prayer for Healing on Nov 16th, do feel free to join us.
